Lloyds of London selects FirePro
Lloyds of London is a historic British insurance institution operating in one of the most iconic landmark buildings on the Capitals skyline. Originally constructed in 1986, the building is renowned for its unique architecture, in which to maximise inner space, building services, such as lifts and ducts are on located the outside of the structure. The building is located on the former site of East India House in Lime Street, where not too far away in a Tower Street coffee house, Edward Lloyd originally formed the insurance market in c.1686. Today, syndicates and managing agencies, underwrite more than £35bn of gross premiums on insurance risks throughout the world.
Following a review of building power control and distribution throughout the premises, and appreciating its criticality, the Lloyds professional team selected and appointed ICW Powermode, as the Principal Contractor, to completely manage, overhaul and renew the existing switch gear and power distribution system, which came with numerous logistical and planning challenges. In particular, for the three critical switch rooms, besides completely new switchgear, the original pressurised gas fire suppression systems were reviewed and following close consideration evaluation, FirePro was selected as the replacement chosen fire suppression agent, which formed part of the complete renewal of the fire detection & alarm system for the protection of the newly overhauled facilities. Managing Director of FirePro UK, Tony Hanley commented “FirePro is a global product, with numerous approvals, and a suitable fire suppression agent for a number of risk types. In similarity to other projects of this nature, we were able to present the FirePro product and its distinct advantages to fully satisfy the close selection scrutiny against others for the professional teams assurance to be chosen for this prestigious project”.
