Statistics for take up of hybrid vehicles show an ever increasing year on year upward trend. Its a well known fact that these vehicles pose a significant challenge to Fire & Rescue services, when hybrid vehicle battery fires occur.

An even greater challenge lies in the safe transportation post fire fighting, when cells have the potential to retain sufficient energy to re-ignite a fire, requiring the return of the Fire & Rescue services to once again douse the vehicle with even more water.
